Natural wool dyes workshop

Introduction workshop to dyeing plants and their application in wool

Learn about the process of dyeing natural wool with botanical elements!

Natural dyes or vegetable dyes are natural pigments that are extracted from natural sources, such as plant leaves. Natural dyes allow you to dye organic materials, such as wool or cotton, but not synthetic fabrics. The great advantage of this type of dyes is that we can make them at home. And even experiment with those elements we have at our disposal to achieve unique colors.

At Mas Casas we offer you the possibility to participate in a morning workshop introducing dyeing plants and their application in wool with the following topics:

  1. Dyeing material. We will use two or three dyes: onion leaves, mate grass, avocado.
  2. Dye extraction process. Simple techniques and process.
  3. Staining process. Techniques and methodology of mordanting with alum.
  4. Wool dyeing process. Techniques and methodology of botanical dyes.
  5. Modifiers and ecoprint. Techniques and materials to modify colors with natural elements and to make natural stamping.

The workshop will be conducted by Martha Pelayo, from Creacions Lapali.
